Neurologic Physical Therapy - Practice, Research, and Education

Sarosh started working on vagus nerve stimulation as an undergraduate in Dr. Michael Kilgard’s Cortical Plasticity Laboratory at the University of Texas at Dallas, where the question was whether pairing stimulation with movement could reorganize motor cortex. Fifteen years later she is asking a version of the same question about her own patients, and publishing the answer.

In between came a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Angelo State University, a neurologic physical therapy residency at Nova Southeastern University and Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital, and board certification as a Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy. She has practiced across the continuum: neurologic ICU, medical and COVID ICU, and now outpatient neurologic rehabilitation at TIRR Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands, where she leads the interdisciplinary vagus nerve stimulation team and founded the clinic’s quality council.

Her clinical focus is spasticity and the upper motor neuron syndrome: tone assessment, orthotic and casting decisions, and coordinating rehabilitation around chemodenervation and intrathecal baclofen. She sits on the health system’s Spasticity and Associated Syndromes of Movement core group, leads its dystonia project, and drove the enterprise-wide rollout of the TWSTRS outcome measure into the Epic EMR.

Alongside the clinic she teaches. She was a founding core faculty member of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Sam Houston State University and lead syllabus writer for ten of its courses, has taught the accredited Certified Brain Injury Specialist course four times, and reviews for Physiotherapy Theory and Practice.
